Question
Hello,
I just got my blood work and urinalysis back and have a few questions. My bun/creatinine ratio came back as high. My level is 42 with a referance range from 7.0-25.0. I also tested positive for large bilirubin (U) QL, epithelial cells is 40-70 with referance range LPF, bacteria, small, mucus, small and yeast.
I have a fentanyl pain pump and take vicodin for break through pain. I'm wondering if my numbers indicate a problem?
Thanks so much.
Cindy M.
Answer
Hi Cindy,
Thanks for asking my help on "Allexperts".
A high ratio can be due to many causes. Common among them are:
1. Dehydration
2. High protein diet
3. Ingestion of a large quantity of cooked meat
4. Steroid therapy
5. Blood in the gut
I am more concerned about the large bilirubin. Please ask your doctor to refer you to the relevant specialist.
Sincerely,
Dr. Shah
