Protein in urine

Question
Hi doctor it's rob again my question is how much is too much protein in urine my last test I had

+1 is that alot ? Was is alot?

Answer
Hi Rob,

Thanks for asking my help again on "Allexperts".

Normal people have less than 30 mg of protein in the urine per day. Between 30 and 300 mg, a person is said to have microalbuminuria. Anything more than 300 mg in 24 hours is gross proteinuria.

1+ does not give an idea about protein loss because it is a semi-quantitative measurement. For a better assessment, get a 24 hour urinary protein estimation done or a urine protein/creatinine ratio.

Sincerely,

Dr. Shah
