Question
Hello,

My mother is a diabetic patient and her creatinine serum level is 2.76. She is on insulin. I want to know if she requires to go to dialysis or is this indicate that she is having infection in her kidney. Please give you suggestion what should we do?

Answer
Hi Abhishek,

Thanks for your question on "Allexperts".

Your mother may be suffering from diabetic nephropathy, a type of chronic kidney disease. A careful history, physical examination, lab tests and imaging of the urinary tract are required to diagnose her condition. Please get her evaluated by a Nephrologist.

Sincerely,

Dr. Shah
