Creatinine level which is 4.8

Question
Dear Sir,

My younger brother, aged around 45years is a diabetic and bloodpressure patient.  His creatinine level has gone up to 4.8 in a recent test. He takes insulin to control his sugar.  These are the little details i know about him. How he can control and bring down his creatinine levels to acceptable one please? Currently, he is under treatment with some hephrologist at Satya Kidney Center at Hyderabad.  what he should do (other than dialysis) now to treat this problem and how effective will it be?

Kindly comment.

Answer
Hi Mohammad,

Thanks for asking my help on "Allexperts".

A careful history, physical examination, lab tests and imaging of the urinary tract are required to diagnose your brother's condition. Unfortunately, I cannot do that over the internet.

A complete discussion of the management of a patient with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) is beyond the scope of this forum.

I encourage you to discuss these issues with your brother's Nephrologist.

Sincerely,

Dr. Shah
