Question


My father is 80 ys and nohistory of high BP or diabetis. the creteninine levels in the blood is 3.1 i the fisrst week and 3.6 in the second week. After the medication about one week the cretinine level is 3.5. but he is still active and no symtoms of fatugie or or vomit. doctors hav advised diet and in case of any emergency symptom of vomit and increse serum cretenine level, dialysis is need. Is this realy needed in this age as he may not be in aposition to with stand th pain?



Pl advise our next step. the cretinine level is 3.5 statble from 25 days.

It is important to get your father evaluated by a Nephrologist to ascertain the cause of kidney failure. A careful history, physical examination, other lab tests and imaging of the urinary tract may be required. The need to start dialysis cannot be pegged to a certain creatinine value. A detailed discussion is beyond the scope of this forum. I encourage you to discuss these points with your nephrologist.



Who told you that dialysis is painful? If that was so, would millions of people be doing it everyday?
