Kidney function

Question
Hi Doc.

Firstly thanks for helping out. In the past months I've been experiencing freqeunt urination at night and sometime I have kidney spasms with no pain,i then went for consultation about the problem.

I  did urine and blood tests and everything fel within the normal ranges and no blood and protein in urine test. My concern is  I have an eGRF of 78% and still have frequent urination.I don't have any other sickness.

What could be the reason for the decrease in eGFR?

Answer
Hi Mpho,

Thanks for asking my help on "Allexperts".

A careful history, physical examination, review of relevant lab tests and imaging of the urinary tract are required to diagnose the cause of low eGFR. Unfortunately, I cannot do that over the internet.

That said, eGFR readings must always be viewed in light of suggestive history and lab tests. In isolation, it does not carry that great a value.

Please get yourself evaluated by a Nephrologist.

Sincerely,

Dr. Shah
