Question
sir,

i underwent an ultrasound one month back,i was diagnosed with smaller sized rt kidney.MCU WITH IVP WAS PERFOMED AND DIAGNOSED with grade 2 VUR.MY urologist asked me to undergo DTPA SCAN.ACCORDING to report my right kidney is left with only 19% function.size of rt kidney is 8 cm.My doc advised me to udergo surgery. shld i go for sugery,if yes which one LAPROSOPIC OR OPEN. plz guide me

I do not see a need for surgery if you are asymptomatic. What is the indication for surgery as explained by your Urologist.



The philosophy of surgical management is based on the knowledge that high-grade reflux and persistent reflux in adolescents is not likely to resolve with continued medical therapy, especially in grade III reflux or greater. Another consideration in opting for surgical reflux management is the effect of repeated testing on patients and parents. In addition, lack of compliance with medical treatment may also dictate a surgical approach.
