Answer
Hi Sachin,

Thanks for asking my opinion on "Allexperts".

A careful history, physical examination, lab tests and imaging of the urinary tract are required to diagnose your father's condition. On the surface, it seems that your father is suffering from Diabetic Nephropathy, Chronic Kidney Disease.

The answers to your questions in chronological order:

1. There is no single "Best" hospital for kidney diseases in India. If you let me know your father's geographical location, I can suggest some good centers.

2. Unfortunately not. It is too late at this stage.

3. I do not know of any allopathic treatment other than dialysis to replace kidney function.

4. May I know why are you so averse to dialysis? For a patient with End-stage kidney disease, there are three options: Hemodialysis, Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) and Kidney Transplantation. Amongst these, kidney transplantation provides the best quality of life

5. Each lab has its own reference range depending on the type of kit used to run the test. Please look at your father's lab report. The normal reference range is usually written on the right column. Usually, for men, creatinine ranges between 0.7 to 1.2

Sincerely,

Dr. Shah
