Question
I have been diagnosed with a biotoxin illness due to exposure to very toxic molds over 2yrs. I donated a kidney to my dad in 1995. My recent labs are eGFR 48 (>60), BUN 24mg/dl (7-25mg/dl), creatinine 1.2mg/dl (0.6-1.1 mg/dl), BUN/Cr ratio 20.3 (6-22), osmo 308 (280-300 mOsm), TGF-Beta 1 9980 (344-2382 pg/ml), and PAI-1 34 (0-25 IU/ml) and IgE 518 (0-158 IU/ml). I am a 51yowf with mild-mod HTN on 20mg Benicar every day. I just wondered if there could be some microscopic changes going on with my remaining kidney, or other tests you might suggest? Thank You, Cindi
Answer
Hi Cindi,
Thanks for asking my help on "Allexperts".
Please get a 24 hour urinary creatinine clearance done. If the results are within normal limits, you have nothing to worry about. If not, please get yourself evaluated by a Nephrologist. A careful history and physical will be required before ordering any test. Unfortunately, I cannot do that over the internet.
Sincerely,
Dr. Shah
