Father dying from PKD pain!

Please help with any info or referals! my dad in hospital for one week.has pkd. not getting better. drs. say worst case they have seen. feel like they dont know what to do.  basically told my dad he is going to die. He is in so much pain and on Morphine. What can we do? Cant move him he was barely inserted a feeding tube today.  He is not breathing good,and can barely talk.  Would removal of kidneys ease his pain? I dont want to settle! We live in California.

It would be difficult to comment without a careful history, physical examination and review of the medical imaging. However, in this modern age, nobody "dies" of PKD. Your father might have developed some other complications in addition to having PKD.



Please get another opinion, preferably from someone at a teaching University Hospital.
